NEW INITIATIVES
Alternatives continues to grow! As we focus on the care that we give our clients, our new name, Alternatives Care Centers highlights that it's the "care" we have for people that sets us apart.
Our newest location, in Kalamazoo on Burdick street, serves this community by providing pregnancy tests and clothing room services with transportation assistance to our West Michigan office for ultrasound and sexually transmitted infection screening.

Women seeking information on contraceptives will be given preliminary educational information of various methods of birth control and the potential risks and side effects. Married women seeking contraceptive information will be urged to seek counsel, along with their husbands, from their pastor, and/or physician.
We had an opportunity to meet with a woman who shared that she was very anxious to tell her husband that she thought she was pregnant. She was considering abortion, in part, because of not knowing how he would respond. She confided that she had a past abortion when she was young. The abortion had been forced upon her by her mother and it was still impacting her life today. In our time with her we learned that she has experienced so much trauma in her life ranging from her father being murdered when she was two and her first husband being murdered as well. She is a mother of 6 children whose husband incurred an injury that has placed him on disability. He now faces struggles in his own life. We had the opportunity to provide a limited ultrasound with the initial result being inconclusive as she was very early in her pregnancy . She was willing to return again to receive another scan and this time was happy to share that she'd spoken with her husband and the discussion went better than she'd hoped; they are now committed to carrying their baby and bringing their son or daughter into their family! Thanks be to God for the hope, love and support that she experienced to help her have the courage to accept this gift of life!
Alternatives strives to help families have healthy lives by holistically focusing on emotional, physical, and spiritual support.
